This briefly describes the training opportunities open to collaborations with visiting scholars and faculty, post-doc fellows, medical students, master and doctoral students with research background and interests.
Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus but not necessary unless otherwise noted.
Minimal length of stay is 3 months with longer length of stay preferred.
The applicants should have certain research experience and content knowledge related to chronic disease, injury prevention, and disability research. In general, they should possess one or more of the following essential skills to work independently or under different levels of mentorship:
- Initiation of research ideas and proposal writing (bring your own ideas or work on the proposals we are working on – not listed here)
- Data management and data analysis (requires training in data analysis, and biostatistics, and at least a basic knowledge of statistical software such as SAS, Stata, or SPSS)
- Research manuscript and study report writing including skills in literature search and review, drafting and critical revisions of research papers or reports in English
- Research project implementation and management (for projects in this stage only; usually requires proficiency in Mandarin)
- Stakeholder engagement, communications, advocacy, translation of research evidence to policy (for projects with such elements only; usually requires proficiency in Mandarin and experience in public relations)

Alternatively, it is also possible for us to identify suitable projects for you once you arrive if you meet the requirements above and are committed to coming to China but flexible in terms of specific projects to work on within the realm of our expertise areas: chronic disease and injury prevention and management.
