Date/time:
13/06/2013 - 13:30 to 14:30
Event location:

The George Institute for Global Health at Peking University Health Science Center
Level 18, Horizon Tower B, No. 6 Zhichun Rd, Haidian District, Beijing, 100088 P.R.C

China has experienced rapid industrialization, urbanization, and transportation development in the past decades. As a result, air pollution levels in many Chinese cities are well above the WHO guideline values, and air pollution associated with cardio-pulmonary morbidity and mortality has become a growing public health concern.

However, the health effects attributable to air pollution exposure in Chinese population have been least understood. Dr Huang will present her research findings on ambient fine particulate PM2.5 and its primary chemical constituents associated with inflammation, oxidative stress and cardio-pulmonary responses in susceptible and healthy subjects, and the latest progress in air pollution related chronic disease research and national initiatives in China.
