Globally

1999: The George Institute was first founded in Australia with the aim of reducing the escalating burden of non-communicable diseases and injury around the world. 
2007: The George Institute launched additional offices in India and China, followed by the UK in 2013.
2011: The George Institute was ranked among the top 10 research institutions in the world for scientific impact for the first time.
As of 2017, it has grown to more than 600 staff across all global centres. Our projects have spanned more than 50 countries, we have raised almost $750 million for global health research.
Our global headquarters are located in Australia. 

China

2004: The China-Australia Partnership for Health was established in collaboration with Peking University Health Science Center, marking the beginning of The George Institute’s work in China.
2007: The George Institute, China, was officially launched in Beijing.
2009:Establishment of The China International Center for Chronic Disease Prevention
2012: The George Institute, China, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with PUHSC, making it an official affiliate. This was renewed in 2017.
2014: Establishment of the China Center for mHealth Innovation (CCmHI)
2016: Establishment of the Health Research Center (HHRC)
2018: Representative office with Beijing Municipal Health Commission as a professional authority
