On 18 November 2018, the academic forum, Healthcare, People and Media – Healthy China Initiative and the Multiple Approaches to Health Communication, organized by Peking University and The George Institute, China was successfully held in Beijing. Nearly 100 participants from the government, universities, media, hospitals, enterprises and public institutions joined the forum.
On 17 November 2018, the Health Communication Workshop, organized by The School of Journalism and Communication of Peking University and supported by The George Institute China, was successfully held in Beijing. More than 50 participants from China government sectors, leading Universities, media and foundations joined the workshop.
On 13 November 2018, a health research delegation led by Professor Alex Ademokun, Head of Global Health Research Programme of the Department of Health and Social Care in the UK, visited The George Institute China to discuss strategies and progress regarding the Action on Salt China (ASC) project together with multiple cooperative units of ASC.
The George Institute China and China Center for Health Education officially achieved a cooperative intention during the 11th China Health Education and Promotion Conference. The two parties will work together to safeguard and enhance the health of people, actively transfer scientific health-care knowledge, and improve national health literacy.
China has the largest number of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in the world - 110 million people – and this number is expected to rise. In order to better help people with T2DM, The George Institute China is undertaking a ‘Mobile Health Technology Platform’ to help family health promoters in their management of people with diabetes.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD), including heart disease and stroke, is the world’s leading cause of death, claiming 17.5 million lives annually, and by 2030 this figure is expected to rise to 23 million.
On September 18, 2018, Taikang Pension Insurance Co., Ltd. and The George Institute for Global Health signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for strategic cooperation. Liu Hongbo, Deputy General Manager of Taikang Pension, and Professor Anushka Patel, Chief Scientist of The George Institute for Global Health, signed the MoU on behalf of each party.
